Luke has extensive experience in public policy, academia, and as a consultant across several industries in Asia.

Previously a Director at Nous Group, he has led complex strategy, policy projects, and research projects for private and public sector clients. Luke has deep expertise and experience on regional trade and investment and holds a Ph.D. in international economics from The Australian National University.

He was previously a Research Fellow at the East Asian Bureau of Economic Research (ANU) and served as Executive Officer of the Pacific Trade and Development International Secretariat, the premier Track II forum on Asian regional economics and development.

Private sector

• Luke has spent more than a decade developing and leading complex strategic projects for clients. From broad Asian growth strategies to business cases for market entry, he has worked with business leaders to provide them with timely and practical advice that has helped them plan for growth in Asia

Public sector

• Luke has delivered many public-sector projects that support governments and/or their constituents to make better decisions when it comes to Asia. Examples of his previous work include strategies for government to better attract and retain foreign investment and business cases to support the development of public initiatives

• Luke has published in leading academic journals on topics ranging from bulk commodity trade to foreign investment and geopolitics

• Co-editor of the China Update (ANU Press) in 2019

• Published China’s Impact on the Global Iron Ore Market (Routledge) in 2017

Where my passion for Asia started

My passion for regional integration was sparked during my Ph.D. in Canberra. Fieldwork led me through several Asian economies and the scale and complexity of the opportunities captured me. I’ve been in the weeds ever since.
